The stalwart ionic building in
Neo-Classical style bears the Wiesbaden coat of
arms with its three lilies and the phrase "Aquis
Mattiacis" i.e. the waters of the Mattiaci, an
ancient German tribe.

The Nerobergbahn (Railway), installed in 1888, is a funicular cable car
driven by waterballast and is considered to be a monument to
technical culture.
The railway route up the mountain is 440 meters long and takes a 25%
climb its stride, the difference in altitude being 80 meters.

On the top of the Neroberg is the Nerobergtempel.
The Tempel was erected in 1851 by Philipp Hoffmann.
It is an amphitheater for open air theater and also a
cafe. On the Neroberg is a Greek Chapel too. It was
built between 1847 and 1855. The Russian- Byzantine
chapel is distinguished by five golden domes.

The Opelbad, located on the Neroberg, affords a wonderful panoramic view of Wiesbaden and the
Thein-Main Region. It was built in 1933/1934 in Bauhaus style to be an outdoor swimming pool. It
was named after its donor and is viewed as one of Germany's loveliest outdoor swimming pools.
